Year 7 – High Flyers Program, Academic,
Music and Sport Scholarships

Wellington Secondary College is offering a High Flyers program and an exciting series of entry scholarships for gifted and talented Grade 6 students who wish to enrol at this leading College. Students may apply for more than one type of scholarship.

High Flyers Program and Academic Scholarships:

  • Six (6) Academic Scholarships will be awarded.
  • To be eligible for these scholarships in 2018 students must have sat the exam held on Saturday May 13, 2017, and as a result be selected for the High Flyers Program.
  • Each scholarship is valued at $450.00 (comprising up to $200 for approved expenses and a waiver of the 2018 Year 7 Council Approved Levy and Service Charge.)
  • Application must be made on-line and can be accessed via the school website. There is a fee of $85.00 ( On Line Registration Link )
  • Closing date: Registrations for the testing close a week prior to the test. Late applications may be accepted at the discretion of the testing agency but may also incur additional fees.
  • Successful Scholarship and High Flyer Program recipients will be notified.

On The Day of the High Flyers Program/Academic Scholarship Test:

Students are to meet at the Junior School Centre in M Block, (follow the signs from the Eastern car park), Students are to arrive by 9.00 am on the day of testing. The exam will take place between 9am and 12noon.

Music Scholarship:

  • Two 1 year Instrumental Music Scholarships are awarded.
    – Recipients of Music Scholarships will be expected to learn a musical instrument at the College and attend weekly ensemble rehearsals. They will also be expected to participate in College concerts, Open Night, Awards Night, Information Night and any other performance events as scheduled in the Performing Arts calendar.
    – Instruments available are: Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Percussion (tuned and untuned), Flute, Clarinet, Alto or Tenor Saxophone, Bass Clarinet, Acoustic Guitar, Violin, Viola, Cello and Voice. Please note that Keyboard is not offered as it is included in the classroom program.
  • Each is valued at $450.00 (comprising up to $200 for approved expenses and a waiver of 2018 Year 7 Council Approved Levy and Service Charge).
  • Application for 2018 have now closed. Applications for 2019 can be downloaded here at the beginning of 2018.
  • Students may apply for both a Music and a Sport Scholarship on the one form.
  • There is a non-refundable $10 administrative charge for each of the Music or Sport Scholarship applications. The $10 (or $20 if both are applied for) payment to “Wellington Secondary College” MUST be included with the Application.
  • The College may consult the relevant primary school teachers further information, in addition to nominated referees.
  • Closing date: Applications for 2018 have now closed. Applications for 2019 will close at 4.00pm Friday May 4, 2018. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Successful Scholarship recipients will be notified.

Sport Scholarships:

  • Two 1 year Sport Scholarships are awarded.
    Recipients of Sport Scholarships will be expected to participate in all House Carnivals and Interschool Sport.
  • Each is valued at $450.00 (comprising up to $200 for approved expenses and a waiver of the 2018 Year 7 Council Approved Levy and Service Charge.)
  • Application for 2018 have now closed. Applications for 2019 can be downloaded here at the beginning of 2018.
  • Students may apply for both a Music and a Sports Scholarship on the one form.
