Students enjoy a range of activities outside the classroom. Wellington has wide ranging Engagement Clubs that run during lunch time and after school.
We have around twenty clubs that run throughout the year. They provide fantastic opportunities for students to socialise and relax while learning new skills, and explore new ideas in a very supportive environment.
Popular clubs include:
Homework Clubs such as Chemistry, Business Studies, Mathematics and EAL during lunchtime and after school support students academically.
Social skills groups conducted by the wellbeing team created opportunities for disconnected junior students. Activities promoted and delivered by the SRC (Student Representative Council), together with special events sponsored by sub-schools continue to create interest. A sense of belonging is fostered by the provision of special areas for students of each sub-school at lunchtimes.
The wellbeing team expanded to include a social worker, in addition to our chaplain and workers from community agencies such as MYFS (Monash Youth and Family Services). A greater number of students sought assistance, were supported and increased their connection with the school. Staff were made aware through PD of their role in the wellbeing program in the college, and students experienced increased staff focus on prevention of bullying.
